Winter skin can still be beautiful: Our tips to keep that youthful glow Posted on February 20, 2017 by , 0 comments

At this point in the year, many of us are so over winter, and so is our skin. The cold, the dryness, the endless layers or moisturizer and lack of sun—it’s enough to make anyone long for the days of summer. But, just because we still have a couple more months of cool temperatures doesn’t mean we can’t have beautiful skin. Read on for our favorite late-winter healthy-skin tips!

Eat your veggies, drink your water, and take your supplements

Great skin really does start from within - with the right amount of water, a good diet, and great supplements. Make sure that your diet is a colorful array of plant-based foods like dark leafy greens and berries. Having a diverse, plant based diet can help provide your body with key nutrients for dermal health like antioxidants and Vitamins C. Also be sure that you are getting the right amount of good fats in your diet to support dermal health.

Exfoliate—but gently

Winter can leave many people with rough, flakey skin. Fight back with a gentle exfoliation product that contains sugar. Sugar is all-natural and will dissolve in water as opposed to micro beads that may not biodegrade and can be harmful to the planet. We like Freeman Feeling Beautiful Charcoal and Black Sugar Polishing Mask. You can use it on your face (which leaves your skin gently buffed and glowing) as well as on dull, rough cuticles and feet as well.

Humidify

A humidifier isn’t just for when you’re sick—it can do wonders for your skin. While some humidifiers might put out more cool moisture than you want, a simple electronic atomizer placed next to or near your bed can provide just the right amount of nighttime humidity for a boost of hydration. Electronic atomizers are amazing little units of relaxation that don’t take up much space and can distribute essential oils into the air to support you in a variety of ways. Our favorite is the Zen Breeze, available at Amazon.com paired with a few drops of eucalyptus and spearmint.

And moisturize—but with something a little different

For really dry skin that is looking less than welcoming, try a moisturizer from the baby aisle. That’s right—baby lotion. Baby products (depending on the brand) may contain lower levels of chemicals that can cause drying and higher levels of ingredients that help to seal in skin’s moisture. We love Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream in the winter. This product is great because it contains Dimethicone, a silicon-based polymer that acts a skin protectant, helping to keep moisture in.

Stay Tuned

We have exciting news! Body Regime, the weight management product you know and love, will soon be launching a brand new skin care formula. This supplement will stick the natural, results-based method just like our current Body Regime formula.
